About Sheed

Sheed is an attempt in developing and promoting the works of Iranian documentary photographers.

Sheed was formed in 2010 by Iranian photographer Roshan Norouzi, when a group of photographers organized a ceremony to celebrate the first anniversary of AKSONLINE website. Sheed was started with Sheed Award (a documentary photography award) and then extended activities with a photography grant, workshops and etc.

From 2014 Sheed has a policy council including Peyman Hooshmandzadeh, Behrouz Mehri and Roshan Norouzi.

Sheed Award is an independent, non-profit and non-governmental photography award that goes to a social documentary photographer annually. Founded in 2010 the award is known for encourage and promote social documentary among Iranian photographers.

That annual contest has since grown into one of the most prestigious awards in documentary photography.

Sheed Grant is an annually financial support for two Iranian photographer to work on their story on an issue.

Every year an under 30 woman and man are supported to publish their story.
